Maybe A Tedious Weekend

Image
I always look forward on weekends, it is the time to grab a popcorn, sit on a soft cushioned chair to watch a motion picture and get entertained. Indeed the phrase, "Relax. See a movie." works for me. Watching a movie transpose me to a world seemingly far from reality. I tend to forget 3 things: myself, time and problems (if there is at the moment! *smirk*). Watching movies in cinemas is my avocation which I think will never end even if I get old. I checked the movies that opened this week, and it's mostly local. I don't mean to offend the patrons of local movies as well as the film industry in the Philippines, but most of them doesn't worth a penny. I watch Filipino movies only once in a blue moon, during MMFF coz I don't have a choice at all. Foreign movies are not allowed to be shown on the 1st two weeks i think. I am really sorry, the quality of the stories of local movies today has been compromised by the doting of the audience for love stories.

Compatibility In Relationships

Image
It's been years since I blog about "love issues".. Oh well, it seems like I am no longer "inspired" to write some controversial stuff about relationships. I think I have grown myself from those "dramas" in life. Just to keep the category updated, I will pinch a part of my brain to share my thoughts, this time about compatibility. This applies to all types of relationships existing in this world, both moral and immoral. I was born a Capricorn. To quote some of the traits of a Cap; Good Traits Practical and Prudent. Ambitious and Disciplined. Patient and Careful. Humorous and Reserved. On The Dark Side Pessimistic and Fatalistic. Miserly and Grudging. I couldn't agree more to these characteristics. I know, it may not exactly as it is but I am close to that. We were all born with a certain character that nobody else can change. That's why, an individual doesn't get along with anyone every time. Relationships are trial and erro

Mobile Phone Candy

Image
Nowadays, mobile phones are like candies that can be bought anywhere at a very affordable price. I remember when I first had a mobile phone back in college, it was a Nokia 5110 with antenna and was the coolest phone at that time in the year 2000. SIM cards before were like golds which costs almost a thousand bucks. But now, brand new mobile phones are sold for as low as P500! And to top it all, it is a dual-sim phone which you can maintain 2 network providers both turned on to standby mode at the same time! What a great deal for anyone who wants to have that gadget. There are many local players of mobile phones now in the Philippines such as MyPhone, Torque and of course Cherry Mobile. I used to have a MyPhone mobile phone that we use in our loading business, unfortunately after 1 1/2 years, it broke down. So I had no choice but to buy a new one to continue our loading business It was never a problem, since low-end mobile phones now are so cheap that even a student ca

Nail Polish Madness

Image
It is not unknown to myself (of course, lol!) that i love putting colors on my nails. This madness started when i first worked in a call center back in 2010. Well, i had my first nail polish when i was 21, as a requirement for being a bridesmaid, and after that it never happened again until i discovered a delightful feeling of having my nails done. I have tried almost all the colors from the rainbow, but never a nail art or any color combination except for the "French Tip" (transparent colorless base and white color on the tip) that most women likes to have. I visit nail shops twice a month to have my nails done and it costs P400-600 on both manicure and pedicure regular service. And somehow, i realized that it's too pricey since I can also do it myself. Then I tried working on it, checking on the cool shades from Caronia, (a cheaper brand of nail polish) which costs P30-40 per 8ml bottle, rather than having the imported ones. I recently done the blueberry

A Treat For A Cinephile

Image
If I will be ask what is my comfort food, I would definitely answer "siopao from Chowking" or "char siew asado pao from Orchard Road".. But if i will be ask for a comfort "activity", that would be watching movies! Best served on cinemas of course in 3D if there is. Just recently, I received an email from SM Prestige ( I am a happy member! ) informing me to claim the free ePlus Card along with a complimentary movie pass. An ePlus Card regularly costs P300 when you purchase the starter kit ( regular movie pass, popcorn, drink and a premium item ). ePlus Card is SM Cinema's loyalty program that provides exclusive rewards, freebies, and special discounts to its members. Cardholders also get special discounts and perks from SM Cinema's partner establishments. EPLUS stands for Entertainment: Privileges. Lifestyle. Upgrades. Surprises. Unlike any other loyalty cards, ePlus Card is reloadable and is accepted in all SM Cinema and Snacktime branches nati

Total Recall: a review

Image
I have watched this film last night on it's first week of showing in the Philippines, and this was initially released on the first week of August in the United States. Total Recall is a 2012 science fiction action movie remake of the 1990 film of the same name, which was previously starred by Arnold Schwarzenegger. In this 2012 film, Douglas Quaid was played by Collin Farrell, together with the other main casts, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel. Compared from the original film, this movie has a different plot that does not include the trip going to Mars. The story happened at the end of the 21st century after the 3rd World War devastation when the remainder of the Earth was divided only into two territories: the  United Federation of Britain and The Colony. Most of the residents of the Colony travel to UFB to work in their factories via "The Fall", a gravity elevator which travels through the Earth's core. The population of both UFB and Colony is overcapac

BRAVE: a review

Image
I watched this movie with my daughters in response to their request of seeing an animated movie which kids really loves watching. So I made this opportunity to bond with my girls and I ended up crying after.. LOL! Brave is a movie about a Princess named Merida, a skilled archer who defied her Queen Mother in marrying a qualified prince from different kingdoms which was an old-age tradition that led their kingdom to chaos and disorder. She is a stubborn but an exceptional Princess who wants to live her life the way she wants it. Merida seek help from a witch that made her mother turn into a black bear which was hated and hunted by her King Father. The climax of the story rolled between the search for truth, forgiveness and acceptance. I just love the Scottish accent all throughout the movie, as it was set from the Highlands of 10th-Century Scotland. It was full of adventure, well animated scenes that kids would truly love. I was deeply touched by the story and the lessons that everybo

The BOURNE Legacy: a review

Image
Who wasn't got excited from the Philippines seeing this movie? I hope there's none. It is a much awaited movie in the Philippines, since it has Filipino casts in it and not to mention that more than half of the movie scenes were shot in Manila! Yes I got excited to watch this movie too. The Bourne Legacy is the fourth installment of Bourne movie series which previously lead by Matt Damon as the main character for the first three films. But here, Jeremy Renner played the role of Aaron Cross, a member of Operation Outcome, one of the Department of Defense's black operations programs which provides its agents with green pills that enhance physical abilities and blue pills that enhance mental abilities. Like the previous three films in the franchise, it has a completely different plot from the eponymous novels. The action and chasing scenes were still there but I find it a little more lacking of big thrilling scenes that will freeze you while you watch it. Cinematography wise,

STEP UP Revolution: a review

Image
This movie has been in cinemas for more than two weeks now, and some already removed it from their list. It is a late review, as usual but better late than never! I just want to share my own review on this "dance movie". I have never seen any of the Step Up movie in cinemas since it started working on installments, except this one. Well, movie sequels or series demonstrates that it was a hit, so I think this movie has a lot more to show than the previous ones. I have watched this movie over a week ago in 3D and I thought that the first scene (which of course a hippy dancing scene) was really cool with all the hydraulic car pumping and booty babes shaking to the hip songs in medley that you can just say, oooh yes! Haha! Cars and sexy babes really works so well together of course mostly for men..;) This was previously titled "Step Up: Miami Heat" then changed to "Step Up 4Ever" and ended up to Step Up Revolution, which I think was the best choice. It's a

SM Advantage Card: Working On Your Advantage!

Image
It's nice to be writing a blog again after a few months of laziness.. Well, i just got so excited by the experiences i had from my SM Advantage Card. If you're an SM customer, and you don't have their Advantage Card, sorry to say that you're not enjoying the privileges that it brings to its members. For quite a long time, i thought that it's just one of the "swipe cards" that you would bring once you purchase something from the store where you're a member of. Getting some purchase "points" that will require a thousand for you to enjoy a certain "treat" from them. But then, after a long time of using my SM Advantage card, it's now really working on my advantage. I remember last Christmas of 2010 when i was able to shop for my kids worth 2,500 pesos credited to my SM Advantage Card alone, without shelling out money from my pocket! The kids were so happy that they enjoyed having a lot of new toys and clothes on Christmas day! Aside
