BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP



When i was a little child, my mother used to sell a lot of different items to our relatives, neighbours and even to my father’s employees. Even my father used to try different businesses at home, making us work there during weekends. We were raised by business minded parents, for which we thought at that time, was just their hobby.

Everyone in us has the urge or has a potential in making money from having our own business. Even the low income earners, has the ability to sell their goods and make money from it. Just like the street vendors, they sell everything that’s viable and usable to the commuters around them, because they already have a market on the streets.

When you sell and earn profit from it, you’re already in business. Regardless of the amount you have as a capital for as long as you’re getting an extra amount from the original price of your goods, it is considered as business.

There are a lot of SME’s ( Small and Medium Enterprise ) in the Philippines, and a sari-sari store would be a best example. When your store is located in a high foot traffic location, or in a community where consumers are in a high rate, your store can go a long way, and can even sustain the needs of your family, that can be totally your means of income.

In business, there are a lot of key points to be able to succeed in whatever industry that you choose to cater. But the most essential yet the simplest equation that a business must have, is the ability to earn money and make it constantly profitable. SALES-CAPITAL=PROFIT, is the basic equation in business. If you’re gaining a positive PROFIT, then we can say that you are in business. If your PROFIT doubles your CAPITAL, we can say that you are in a good and profitable business, for which you must maintain that rate to be able to earn and make it your means of income.

For me, real life is in business. Being an employee in a company does not mean that you’re living in a superficial life. It just suspends your potential to earn more and be your own boss. You only receive a fixed amount of  income per payday, and your money just end there. After payday, you spend it either for your personal or family maintenance, and the next thing you know, your money is gone! Then you will have to wait for the next payday to earn money again, to do the same. It’s like a “hand-to-mouth” cycle, that for some, it’s even worse because they cannot even meet both ends.

But when you put into your system that you need to earn more, you will tend to think of other alternatives to generate income. The best thing would be is in entrepreneurship. Yes, doing business the right way.

It’s the most challenging venture of all time! BUSINESS and ENTREPRENEURSHIP. Now what’s the difference of the two? Well, business is a general term for any agenda in any industry. Entrepreneurship is the specific term in the equation, SALES-CAPITAL=PROFIT! When you are in this equation, and literally practicing it, you are already an ENTREPRENEUR.



When you become an entrepreneur, you will see and experience the REALITY of life. You will be the driver of your automobile, you’re in charge, you’re in control. But it does not end there. A big and major responsibility will be given to you by your employees, and your consumers. You will learn a lot. Actually, the things that you’ve thought before was so simple, when you become an entrepreneur, it becomes complicated. The success of your business is in your hands. How you manage to motivate your employees to bring the best customer care, and how you please and satisfy your customers would be your everyday saga in order to keep it moving UP and being in the market sustainably.
